WILL YOU BE READY WHEN THE LORD SHALL COME?

PREPARATION TOWARDS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

STEP SIX - WALK IN OBEDIENCE & LOVE

Obedience
"Though he were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things He suffered and being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Hebrews 5:8,9).

Obedience is the will to do what one is told to do. For instance soldiers act in obedience to the orders of their superior officers. Obedience is the key to successful life. In everything, obedience is required. The use of machines such as computers, cars, etc requires obedience to operate them efficiently. This is why every machine manufactured comes with manuals to teach users how to operated them. Manuals inform users about the manufacturer and the machine and what the machine is to be used for and how to use it. In case of any error or malfunctioning of the machine, the manual is first of all referred to before the manufacturer is contacted. The Bible also performs the same function as the manual of any machine. God Almighty created the earth. He attached the Bible to it which, I will at this time refer to as the manual of the earth to enable us to know him and how to live and use the things that are on the earth. So then I will say that, the Bible is the manual attached to the earth by the creator, just like the manual attached to the vehicle by the manufacturer. Assuming the bus driver should go against what the manual says about operating the bus, and applies the accelerator to stop the bus from moving instead of the brakes, what do you think will happen? Destruction of life and the bus as well. Replace the bus with the earth and the manual with the Bible and think about what is going to happen to life and earth. So then the bible says all scripture is given by the inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine which simply means teaching, for reproof (rebuke), for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (1 Tim. 3:16,17) Husbands want their wives to obey them and wives also want their husbands to obey them. Parents want their children to obey them and children also want parents to obey them by providing them with their needs. We all want God our heavenly Father to obey us by answering our prayers and providing us with the things that we ask Him. Likewise God our Creator wants us to obey him. Obedience is the peacemaker of the world. If disobedience separated us from God, then it is only obedience that can bring us back to God and bring peace between God and man. "For by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience, many shall be made righteous". (Romans 5:19).

The wages of Disobedience In one way every human being obeys one commandment of God. The question I ask is that if we obey one and that keeps us alive, why can't we just obey all. You might be asking what commandment is this. Well let's look at it in the Bible. In Genesis 2:7-9,16,17 the Bible tells us that "And the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed unto his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree to grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And the Lord God commanded the man saying "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of good and evil, you shall not eat, for the day that you eat of it, you shall surely die." Here you can see that until God commanded man to eat of the trees in the garden, he didn't know what to do with them even though they were pleasant in the eyes and good for food. God had to speak to the soul of man, which came out of His mouth to feed the flesh of man, which come out of the ground. Let me tell you the truth here, there is nothing on this earth that can feed our souls with the exception of God's Word and there is nothing that can feed our flesh with the exception of the things from the ground. If one does not want to have anything to do with God and His Word, then that person should stop eating because he or she is obeying the very first commandment of God and will find himself or herself back to were he or she came from. "All go to one place, all are dust, and all shall turn to dust again." Eccl 3:20

Warnings Against Forgetting the LORD "Every commandment which I command you today you must be careful to observe, that you may live and multiply, and go in and possess the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers. And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD. As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God." (Deut 8:1-4,20)
There is always a blessing attached to obedience and a curse attached to disobedience. "Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you today; and the curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known." (Deut 11:26-28). When Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, there was a curse put on them. This is why a woman has to go through pain in giving birth and a man has to sweat before eating and after all death. To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you." Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, "You shall not eat of it': "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it all the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, and you shall eat the herb of the field. 19In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return." (Genesis 3:16-19)
God loves man so much because he created him in His image. The love God has for mankind is the same love parents have for their children. God wanted to take away the curse on mankind and restore his lost paradise. He stayed in heaven to reason with man on earth but it did not work because man was so much rooted in sin. The Bible says in Isaiah 1:18-20 that "Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. 19If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.
To find a solution to a problem is to find the cause of the problem. God found out that the cause of the problem is disobedience. Obedience is the only solution to the problem of sin. God took the form of man in the flesh by incarnation, became a Son, lived on earth as a man, and solved the problem by being obedient even unto death on the cross and redeemed us from the curse. "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on the tree." (Galations 3:13). He was buried, but on the third day he rose again from the dead with a glorious body of immortality which lives forever and ever. The Bible says in Philipians 2:8 that "And being found in a fashion of a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even death on the cross" And "Though he were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things He suffered and being made perfect, He became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him" (Hebrews 5:8,9). Whosoever believes in God the Son, whose name is Jesus the Christ, and dies in Him will also resurrect on the last day with a new body of immortality or will not die at all but will live forever. The Bible says that "If we have been planted in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection" (Romans 6:5) Jesus said that " I am the resurrection and the life, he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25, 26) If we agree that disobedience brought about sin and we know that the wages of sin is death, then we can conclude that the wages of disobedience is death. The Bible says in Romans 5:12 that " Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all sinned." Lot's wife disobeyed a very simple commandment "look not behind thee" and she found herself as a pillar of salt. "And it came to pass when they had brought them abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stand thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain lest thou be consumed. But his wife (Lot's wife) looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt." (Genesis 19:17,26)

The Wages of disobedience to the word of God is Eternal Death.
When God created man, He gave him a duty. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 12:12,14 that "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep his commandment. For this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil" The First commandment of God to man. "And the Lord commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shall surely die." (Genesis 2:16,17) The first part of this commandment is for our flesh or body and the second part is for our spirit man the soul. If you go against the first part, you kill the flesh or the body and if you go against the second part, you kill your soul. The first part of the commandment says 'You shall freely eat'. The day that man decides not to eat at all for the rest of his life, he shall surely die and this is the physical death. Man deciding not to eat at all is simply being disobedient to God and he will surely die. In the same manner, the second part of the commandment said, 'You shall not eat'. The day that man decided to eat of the forbidden tree, his spirit man died and this is the eternal death. The Devil lied to him that he will not die but rather will be as God. The Bible says in Romans 5:12 that " Wherefore as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all sinned." "For by one man's disobedience, many were made sinners, so by one man's obedience, many shall be made righteous". (Romans 5:19). "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:"(Romans 16:24-26) For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled." (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)
